What is a Relic? A object surviving from an earlier time, especially one of historical or sentimental interest. The object painted is center focused and with a minimal background. The paint colors are somewhat primary (reds, blues yellows). Within the 21st century United States, the objects I chose to call RELICS might not be relics somewhere else. Some objects, no one would recognize; such as the broken piece of industrial metal. This object I consider an equalizer across generations and cultures.

This is an ongoing idea and as I explore the concept, I see this series as a larger topic including the other definitions of Relic:

  1. A part of a deceased holy person's body or belongings kept as an object of reverence.

  2. An object, custom, or belief that has survived from an earlier time but is now outmoded.
